Course Name: Advanced Communication Technology
Credit: 2
Prerequisites: Wireless Communication, Random Process, Digital Signal Processing 2, Detection and Estimation
Description:
Wireless networks are under constant pressure to provide ever higher data rates to increasing numbers of users with greater reliability. Space-time processing technology, which uses multiple antennas and sophisticated signal processing techniques, is a powerful new tool for improving system performance. The technology already features in the UMTS, CDMA2000, LTE, and WiMax systems. This course is an accessible introduction to the theory of space-time wireless communications. We hope to discuss the basics of space-time propagation, space-time channels, channel capacity, spatial diversity, space-time coding, space multiplexing, and MU-MIMO. The course is an ideal introduction on space-time wireless communications for graduate students. We hope that this course can help the graduate students to learn the new technology in wireless communications.
